On-Campus Employment

Overview:
Students on F-1 or J-1 visa status are eligible to begin working on-campus four weeks after the start of their academic program. You must receive approval from ISS before beginning any work of training.

Limitations:
Students can work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During breaks and vacation periods, students can work on-campus full-time.
After receiving an on-campus employment offer, you must apply for your Social Security Number before beginning employment or training: SSN Application.

Your authorization to work on-campus ends at the earliest of these dates:

  • Your I-20 or DS-2019 expires

  • You have completed your program of study

  • Your SEVIS record is terminated
